This is the plot of land considered the best of all the estate by the Morandi family for generations, here were selected grapes for the production of Vin Santo by my grandfather, we wanted to renew this myth by planting three large Sangiovese, each with a predominant feature and that together give a pyrotechnic result. The strong presence of skeleton and the minimal workmanship keep in controlled stress and balanced our vines that give us in this micro-area a superior grape confirming the myth handed down.

Harvest :

The grapes are selected only in this micro-area in the vineyard, traditionally the only members of the family devote all their attention bunch by bunch, in these moments time slows down in favor of a higher quality. The grapes are laid in small crates that carrying in the nearby winery are further selected.

Vinification :

Spontaneous fermentation at controlled temperatures, extremely long maceration depending on the vintage, this gives it an intense and elegant body.

Ageing :

It rests and evolves for 18 months in oak barrels, of French production, particular in its assembly because formed by woods of different origins, chosen to create a complex harmony and at the same time relaxing in its result to taste. In bottle evolves a minimum of another 12 months.

Tasting notes :
Vintage 2018 | 93/100 James Suckling

Lovely, spicy black fruit, with hints of spice, floreal an mineral notes coming through on the palate. Medium-to full-bodied with good balance of tannin, fruit and acidity and a long, freshly spiced finish. Nicely done. Drink or hold.
